ELC Book Clubs

Book Clubs

Our learners engage and excel in:

  • Reading Comprehension

  • Critical & Narrative Writing

  • Vocabulary & Root construction

Our teachers are selected after several evaluations. They study and train monthly, exchanging most effective methods to optimize learning experience.

Carefully Selected Reading

Our reading list is carefully selected to enhance engagement and relatability for students. Chosen from the vast CA Dept of Education reading lists and the FoLib reading lists, the reading includes selections of classical literature that shaped our English language and culture, as well as readings that challenge the mind and encourage reflection on students’ own lives and societies.

Encouraging Discussions

The purpose of our Book Club is to give students a safe place to explore their thoughts and experiment with ideas. Our teachers are trained to encourage individual thinking while guiding the young learners to express their thoughts and analyze them rationally.

Reading, Writing, and Vocab, oh my!

Our book club goes beyond student reading and discussions. Our learners are taught to read and comprehend advanced literature with context clues, plot identification, and literary context. We also explore writing and analysis with fun and thought-provoking prompts.

Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers.
